The New Face of Mavidea: A Thank You

We are a caterpillar turned into a butterfly -- thanks to some amazing contributions.

The metaphor is not to suggest that one is ugly and one is pretty.  It’s just to suggest that between our first creeping steps and spreading our wings, Mavidea has experienced amazing changes in our scope, our prospects and our lives.

Our new Mavidea headquarters at 14170 Carole Dr, Bloomington, IL 61705.

Learning to walk before you can fly.

It’s amazing how different we were in our previous environment. We liked it and it fit our needs at the time. It gave us a foundation for becoming who we are and who we could become. It’s also where we worked out how we wanted to represent ourselves to our community and ourselves.

We were a caterpillar with a bunch of lessons to learn. In our downtown Bloomington space, we earned our startup legs. Now, we’re flying around and it’s been a super exciting time.

Settling in to our new location.

We’ve been in our facility a few weeks now, but when we enter our waiting and conference rooms, we still can’t help gazing at new and cool spots of the room we discover.

“What’s over in that corner of the conference room?” “What’s going on over there?”

There’s just so much depth to the space that it allows your mind to wander and generates creativity.

It’s intriguing to imagine what it will finally become once we truly settle in. Will we see all the details we see now? It will be super cool to see how that transpires.

Thanks to the incredible team that made our new space possible.

What we got right in the process of making this move is that we had an amazing team. The process and our partners were in keeping with the best of who we are as a business. Throughout the process, we tried hard to uphold our guiding philosophy of being very transparent and easy to know.

The payoff is a space and a design that “gets” us. It captures our working style and gives us the sense of expansiveness we need to imagine, serve and grow.

I’m super grateful to the people who got us here.

Catalyst Construction

Catalyst Construction deserves a lot of credit for making this project happen.  President, Andy Kaufman, and Vice-President, Mike Carithers, would go out looking for buildings with us when we were in the purchasing phase. They would help us develop a quote that showed what it would take to make a building, Mavidea. We had at least two failed attempts at finding the perfect opportunity before we found our current facility. They didn’t give up on us and we appreciate it.

Clearstone Construction

Catalyst worked with outside designer, Seth Jacob, of Clearstone Construction.  Seth took my initial view of how I wanted our space laid out and shaped and molded it into the bright and airy, high tech space we enjoy today.

It was a big challenge for both organizations to pull the project off. But Seth and Clearstone were invested and dedicated to answering that challenge. In the end, they helped us create an environment that is truly unique.

Contractor, Seth Braker

Seth Braker was the perfect personality and temperament for someone dealing with me as the expectant client.  He may have qualified for Sainthood on this project!  Throughout the trials and tribulations of an unpredictable project that seemed to have had a surprise at every turn, Seth was unwavering.

Like many new building owners, I was both anxious and excited about every step of the process. Seth was the perfect person to diffuse every situation.

He was patient with me through every cockamamie idea and inspiration I had along the way.  There were some doozies!  Seth would work through each situation with me and come up with the best solution. In my opinion, he’s just excellent!

Our subcontractors

To our many subcontractors, several who have been clients of Mavidea, many thanks! We were excited to be able to thank you for your business by including you on this project. To see great relationships come full circle – and finally spend some money with these great businesses -- was one of the most gratifying parts of this project.

First Farmers State Bank

With that said, none of this would be possible without our friends at First Farmers State Bank. Steve Timmermann has been like a part of the Mavidea team since the start of the company.

I talked to many bankers around the Bloomington-Normal area and heard a lot of no’s. Steve was the only person to “get” our vision when we first started Mavidea and buy into the way we planned to execute it. I’m incredibly grateful for this relationship and First Farmers support throughout the years.

When it was time to buy the building, he was the first person I spoke to. He immediately got on board to help us build our new vision.

Dealing with the First Farmers team has been refreshing and fun. They are excited and supportive of Mavidea as a company – and our vision for sister companies, Maxlider Motors and real estate company, Mavanderson Properties.

Celebrating a successful move

Moving is filled with anxiety. You have massive things every day that threaten to spin out of control. The responsibility of it brings a whole other level of gravity.

So to bring in a bunch of people that could do it all in the timeline and budget they promised? It’s just…WOW!

Unveiling our future. Come join us!

After a couple weeks of being in our new office, we’re excited about what the future holds. Every visitor that stops by is blown away by what they see. And we’re excited to show the rest of the community.

To unveil our new facility, we’ll be hosting a Business Afterhours with the McLean County Chamber of Commerce on July 15.

We also look forward to unveiling the new office along with our new showroom for Maxlider Motors on July 15.

I encourage people to drop by, get to know our new location and take a look at our beautiful new facility.

We’ll miss being downtown, but we’re excited about spreading our wings and becoming a national provider of services.
