An Exciting Look at our BIG Website Giveaway Winner

Pontiac Flying Service won Mavidea's first annual The BIG Website Giveaway contest back in July of 2015.

The timing of their big win happened right in the midst of their busiest season for the company, so it was a few months before they were able to dig in and create a new website with us!

Needless to say, we were eager to learn more about this great small business and create a website that centered around really cool looking aeration airplanes!

The Pontiac Flying Service Story

Although they had a previous website, it was outdated and pretty un-usable. They needed an online presence, but had never found the right time to get started.

Starting from scratch, we met with them to hear about their story and learn what their goals were for the business and for their website. One of the best parts of our job is getting to hear the stories behind the small businesses that make America so great...and Pontiac Flying is no different.

In 1997, Scott Petersen moved his family to Illinois in pursuit of his dream of owning an aerial application business. They have grown their business from 847 acres sprayed that first summer to around 250,000 acres currently.

They are a family business, with Scott and Sarah Petersen running the bulk of the business, his daughters as office support staff, his son as a pilot and mechanic, and his sons-in-law as the leads in the aerial application part of the business. Meet the family

Why They Needed a Website

They went many years without a website because they didn't have anyone on staff who knew how to manage one or was focusing on the business's online presence. Julie Sancken has been employed to handle their online presence and Mavidea now maintains their website and is here to help with any changes/updates they may need.

The hub of their business, the aerial application side, is all web based so it was very important to be able to integrate that into a website!

I reached out to Julie, who worked with us on their new site, to get her opinions and thoughts on the Mavidea website process...

What did you think of the website process with Mavidea?

I was blown away by how organized Mavidea is! I loved the emails every Monday, keeping us on task and on our timeline. They really listened to what the heart of our business is and created a design and layout that is going to be very effective.

What stood out to you the most about Mavidea?

The organization! That was so impressive to us!

What do you love most about your new site?

It effectively organizes the most important parts of our business while still being a great resource for tourists and others looking for a place to stay/fly into Pontiac. I was thrilled to be able to use a lot of my own photographs as part of it as well.

Would you recommend Mavidea to another small business? If so, why?

Absolutely! Mavidea really captures the essence of a small business on a website and makes it into something we will be using for years to come.

Do you think your website is going to help you grow your business? If so, how?

Yes, I think because the information is more accessible now! We will come up in a Google search, and we have another place to advertise special events happening in and around the airport.

The Final Website

We are so happy with how their website turned out! Their website is equipped with a responsive design and custom built mobile site.
