The Importance of a Strong Mobile Site for Your Business

Here’s a typical conversation I come across quite often in the business:

Woman: “And have you considered optimizing your site for mobile?”

Man: “Yes, but I’m just not sure it’s worth it. It seems like a lot of work, and we’d have to hire outside the company to get it done.”

Woman: “What companies have you considered hiring?”

Man: “We haven’t yet, because I’m just not sure it’s worth the investment and…”

At this point, I’m seeing red. “YES!” I want to shout. “YES, A GREAT MOBILE SITE IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!” Alas, I don’t want to frighten the other customers. Now you get to hear the message I wish I could tell those tentative customers.

Mobile site

Four reasons you need a strong mobile site.

  1. They help people find you: Today, mobile sites play an important role in helping potential customers find you. Thanks to recent Google updates, sites optimized for mobile use can help your search engine rankings, allowing customers to find you more easily than if you limited yourself to a traditional site. Cracking the top ten for any keyword is a great achievement for your small business, and a strong mobile site can help you get there.
  1. They’re easy to use: Ever tried to use a traditional website from your iPhone? No? It’s tough. Actually, it’s beyond tough; in some cases, it’s maddening. If a customer can’t figure out your website, they aren’t going to stick around long enough to purchase your goods, or even to learn more about your business. A strong mobile site can noticeably decrease your bounce rate simply by making it easier to use. It should be a breeze to access and use your website from both computers and mobile devices.
  1. They help keep (and attract) business: Will your customer still buy your service when they can’t find the button to pay from their cell phone? No? You just lost $20. According to many studies, having a strong mobile site improves your conversion rate, and improves your bottom line. You’ll have enough money to pay for those site improvements in no time.
  1.  All of your top competitors already have, or are working on, a great mobile site. A good mobile site makes the transition between desktop and smartphone seamless, and offers visitors and potential customers a positive experience across all of their devices. Unless you’re willing to fall behind the competition, you’ve got to trust us and make the leap. Like I said, a great mobile site is worth every penny.
