Why I’m Changing My Title to Chief Culture Officer

As you know, I’ve been writing on the subject of corporate culture since I started this section of the blog about a year ago.

I’ve been focused on ways to create healthy business cultures since my early experience managing the rock band, MAXLIDER.

Some of you have asked me to share on the topic of healthy cultures at business organization, church and community meetings and I’ve really enjoyed it a lot.

The happiness of helping others to build healthy corporate cultures

I’m really happy that people have started asking me personally about how they can better work through business culture issues or how to improve on some of the good things they’re already doing.

I’ve found myself helping other business owners who are trying to build functional leadership teams and create the culture of transparency.

We’re getting asked to help others with ideas based on how we do things at Mavidea.

Lately, we’ve been starting to help business owners who want a great relationship with their leadership team, their management staff and their employees. They think they’re doing the right things, but they’d like to see better results.

Healthy cultures are energizing

I just came back from HTG – a peer group of 275 other IT business owners from across the country. We had a great exchange. It was fun to listen to them and to discuss ways to engage our team members.

Serving others while having fun. It’s our mantra at Mavidea. But we’re discovering it’s a passion that reaches beyond our walls.

The mission of building healthy business cultures is one of the most exciting things I’ve ever been involved with or pursued.  And that’s why I’m changing my title from CEO to CEO and Chief Culture Officer.

In the majority of cases, leadership of a company is more about cultivating a great culture than marshaling executive authority.

I hope this inspires your own thinking about how to bring a growth-centric, healthy culture to your organization. Need to talk about it? Want some ideas? Please feel free to get in touch.
