In celebration of Earth Day, Mavidea Technology Group, IBM and Goodwill hosted a Recycling event for the Bloomington-Normal community and collected 33,000 pounds in computer equipment.
Bloomington, IL – April 29th, 2010 – Mavidea Technology Group, LLC (Mavidea), a local business that offers IT Management, Web Design and Marketing Services in Illinois and throughout the US, today announced that they collected 33,000 pounds (16.5 tons) in computer equipment at their Recycle IT event on Saturday, April 24.
The “Recycle IT” event was created to give the community a chance to safely recycle their old computer hardware and do something good for the environment. The community prevented 33,000 pounds of computer equipment from being wrongfully discarded into landfills; Goodwill’s program refurbishes or recycles the old computer equipment.
“It was simply an amazing day. Cars just kept pouring into the lot, some with computers that I know were 15 years or older. We knew the totals were climbing, but none of us expected to break the 30,000 pound mark. All of that equipment saved from ending up in a landfill – thank you Bloomington-Normal!” says Jamie Mathy, Mavidea’s Chief Technology Officer.
At the event, members of the community dropped off what seemed to be endless amounts of old PCs, laptops, scanners, monitors, keyboards etc. to be properly recycled by Goodwill’s recycling program. Thank you to the Bloomington-Normal community for making this event a success and for doing something good for your environment!
