My Experience as a Mavidea Intern

LaurenLauren Kapraun – Web Team Intern

Putting Smiles on Faces – not only does this motto describe how the employees at Mavidea treat their customers, but how they also treat each other. Mavidea develops very close relationships with their customers by meeting them in person, and keeping in touch even after finishing the company’s projects.

When I first started the internship I thought that it was amusing that the Information Technology (IT) department, was placed in a section of the building called the dark room. When I walked in, all of the lights were turned off except for an occasional lamp and a few computer screens.

Culture

Our Thanksgiving feast was definitely a memorable event! We got together for lunch in the break room and ate festive foods while watching The Nightmare before Christmas.

Every Friday is a Nerf war day. My first week, I sat in the main meeting lounge learning about the basic functions of WordPress when all of a sudden a Nerf dart flew past my head. The perpetrator was none other than our Director of Controlled Chaos (Office Manager).

Experience

While working at Mavidea, I have been striving to obtain the title “Web Ninja.” Mavidea had me working on projects that I really enjoyed doing, and I woke up every morning excited to see what they would have me do next.

Overall, this internship is the best job I have ever had and if I could, I would work here forever.

The Top 10 things I loved about being a Mavidea intern this quarter:

  1. Friendly Atmosphere
  2.  Nerf War Fridays
  3.  Ninja Missions
  4.  Working with the web team
  5.  Close team member relations
  6.  Close client relations
  7. Multiple creative opportunities
  8. Thanksgiving lunch get-together
  9. Helpful attitudes
  10. They treat each other like family
